CME cum Workshop for Physiotherapists - 31st March 2013

Below are details of an upcoming first multi-disciplinary Musculo-Skeletal Pain Symposium scheduled for 31st March 2013. The idea is to expose physiotherapists, the true first line medical defense (that's the way it should be) against such pains, to an overview on MSK pain.

The biggest problem that medical fraternity faces today is the attitude that 'if I don't know, it must be rubbish'. This workshop will introduce you to pain like never before. To have a CME cum workshop lead by medical specialists from different fields who address pain is not even offered abroad, leave alone India.

Pain has been claimed by different specialists, ranging from medical, allied to alternate, to belong to them. It has been repeatedly mentioned in peer reviewed medical journals that to understand and then address pain, one needs to have knowledge of all the fields addressing pain. Dr Rajat Chauhan is one of the rare doctors in India with that distinction. He is an MBBS with masters in Sports-Exercise Medicine, Osteopathic Medicine and Musculo-Skeletal Medicine. He has further done diplomas or certificates in Medical Acupuncture (& Dry Needling), Mesotherapy for pain, Medical Strengthening Therapy, Taping, Pilates, Alexander Techniques, Yoga, Psychology in Pain etc. He is now the associate editor of British Journal of Sports Medicine. He will introduce you to holistic approach to understanding and managing pain.

When it comes to precision pain management, there aren't many who come close to Dr Pankaj Surange. It's not for nothing that he is the Secretary of Indian Chapter of World Institute of Pain. He's also the founder member of Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Society. He will take the delegates through a live workshop showing what injections are capable of doing. It helps in managing pain a lot better.

There aren't many radiologists in India who are specialized in MSK pain. Dr Harshita Surange will take the delegates through the theory followed by a workshop, where all attendees will experience how to use ultrasound as a precision diagnostic tool. Only a handful of doctors are ever exposed to this, leave alone physiotherapists.
